The Bridges, Jablonec nad Jizerou

Line number 042, Martinice – Rokytnice nad Jizerou, a local track, is home to a curved, truncated, riveted bridge over the River Jizera on the Jablonec nad Jizerou- Poniklá section. This submontane locality was known as the Circular Podkrkonoše – Jizera Line. The line, advanced by Count Jan Harrach, was to have been like the rack railway in Kořenov, a connecting line to Prussia, creating the “Bohemian North Railway Circular”...

The Bridges, Spálov

The Cable Car – Ještěd,Liberec

Ještěd’s majestic appearance has always attracted attention. In 1737 the first cross was erected on its summit. Several years later a forester named Hebelt built a timber chalet just below the summit providing refreshments to visitors, and a 5m high lookout (later 8m) was built on the summit. The German Ještěd – Jizera Mountain Society worked on plans to provide transport access to the summit, which was completed on 27th June, 1933 with the official opening of the first public cable car from Horní Hanychov...
