The Radio Communications – Ještěd Mountain-Top Hotel, Liberec

The unique outline of Ještědhas from time immemorial been linked with the town of Liberec, and the buildings on its summit inherent parts of the landscape. In 1907 a mountain-top hotel was opened on the summit, complete with a 23m high tower, which from 1959 was used for television broadcasting. After a devastating fire on the 31st of January,1963 the telecommunications facility was quickly rebuilt. A competition was held to design a new building, which attracted plans from twelve architects. On the 22nd of April, 1963 the District National Committee selected the design by Liberec architect Karel Hubáček...
